GUARDING THE HEART

“So above all, guard the affections of your heart, for they affect all that you are.
Pay attention to the welfare of your innermost being, for from there flows the wellspring of life.” Proverbs 4:23 (TPT)

REMINDER: Your heart is not just what you feel—it is the core of who you are becoming.

Your affections shape:

- what you desire

- what you pursue

- what you become

What you repeatedly give your heart to will quietly form your life.

Guarding your heart means:

- being careful what you love

- being wise about what influences you

- choosing what is worthy of your attention and devotion

THE FRUIT OF A WELL-FORMED LIFE

“But the fruit produced by the Holy Spirit within you is divine love in all its varied expressions:”

• joy that overflows
• peace that subdues
• patience that endures
• kindness in action
• a life full of virtue
• faith that prevails
• gentleness of heart
• strength of spirit

“Never set the law above these qualities, for they are meant to be limitless.”  Galatians 5:22–23 (TPT)

REMINDER: This is not a list of things you must try to become. This is what grows from within you as your life stays connected to Father God.

You don’t have to force these qualities. You cultivate them by staying rooted.

When you are unsure of yourself, come back to this:

- Am I growing in love?

-  Is there peace in how I am living?

- Is my life producing something good for others?

These are the signs of a life that is healthy and aligned.

SIMPLE TRUTH: You are not called to perform for approval.

You are called to grow—and growth takes time. A healthy life produces good fruit, naturally.

IDENTITY & WORTH

“You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.” Song of Songs 4:7

REMINDER: Your worth is not something you earn.

- You are first seen, known, and loved—just as you are.

- You do not need to become someone else to be valuable.

- You are already deeply valued.

SIMPLE TRUTH: You don’t perform for love. You live from it.

BLESSING

Bella,

From the very beginning, your life has been a testimony of strength and purpose.

I still remember when you were born prematurely at 30 weeks—so small, yet already fighting for life. Even then, there was something in you that refused to give up. Watching you grow from that moment into the young woman you are today has been a deep joy to me.

You are becoming an exceptional woman with a pure heart and sincere motives. What stands out so clearly is your love for God, your love for your family, and the life and curiosity that you carry so naturally.

I am especially blessed by your creativity—how you see things differently—and your willingness to learn, explore, and step into new things with courage. Your adventurous spirit, combined with your tenacity and strong work ethic, gives me great confidence in your future. You are not afraid to grow, and that is a rare and powerful quality.

Bella, you do not need to rush to prove who you are. Stay rooted. Stay grounded in truth. As you continue to grow, I believe you will serve people well and honor Father God with your life in a meaningful way.

Have a blessed year ahead. Know that we pray for you every day. We stand with you, support you, and cheer you on with full hearts.

I am deeply proud of who you are—and who you are becoming.

With all my love,
Oupa Jan
